“Let Me Tell You, What Defeated Us In Lagos Was The Muslim-Muslim Ticket, Not Peter Obi–Obanikoro
According to a report by Punch on Sunday, July 19, 2026, a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has explained why President Bola Tinubu lost Lagos State during the 2023 presidential election, attributing the outcome to concerns surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket rather than the influence of Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.
Obanikoro made the remarks during an interview on Mic On, a podcast hosted by Channels Television journalist Seun Okinbaloye, which was published online on Sunday.
According to the former minister, public perception of the APC’s ticket played a decisive role in shaping the voting pattern in Lagos during the election.
Speaking during the interview, Obanikoro maintained that the APC’s decision to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket generated widespread apprehension among many voters, particularly Christians. GET FULL STORY HERE.
