Kwankwaso’s Ally Abdullahi Defects to APC, Backs Tinubu for 2027

Kabiru Abdullahi, a close associate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, has officially left the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a resignation letter addressed to the NDC chairman of Kofar Ruwa Ward in Dala Local Government Area, Kano State, Abdullahi cited years of “unfulfilled promises” as the reason for his departure.

A staunch member of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Abdullahi expressed disappointment over his nearly three-decade-long loyalty to Kwankwaso, saying it had yielded little recognition or reward.

“I have been with Kwankwaso for 29 years but have only benefited from failed promises. I will go to where I will be respected more,” he declared.

Abdullahi confirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid under the APC platform, stressing that his withdrawal from the NDC takes immediate effect.

His defection comes just months after he publicly defended Kwankwaso during political controversies in Kano State, marking a significant shift in Kano’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
