Kwankwaso: Governors Defected to APC Believing Presidency Will ‘Write Results’

Vice presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has alleged that several state governors joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) out of desperation, believing the presidency would manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections in their favor.

Speaking in an interview with Central TV, the former Kano State governor described the situation as “unfortunate,” noting that many politicians no longer place their trust in voters.“

It is not only the governor of Kano that is in APC. Almost all the governors are of the opinion that they should join the ruling party because they believe that the presidency will write results for them,” Kwankwaso said.

He further claimed that those in power assume security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are aligned with them, adding that desperation has driven many governors to abandon democratic principles.
