Kroger Brookshire Egg Recall Map: 1.6 Million Eggs Recalled Over Salmonella Risk, Check List Of Affected States

Midwest Poultry Services has recalled nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs sold under multiple brands at Kroger and Brookshire’s stores over possible Salmonella contamination.

Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. has voluntarily recalled nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs after they were found to have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall covers 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs produced at the company’s Texas farms between June 6 and July 3. The affected eggs have sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and Aug. 17.

The company said it identified the issue through proactive environmental monitoring practices and root cause analysis at its two Texas farms. It has paused the distribution of fresh eggs produced at those facilities. No illnesses linked to the recalled eggs have been reported.

The recalled eggs were sold under several brand names, including Kroger, Simple Truth Cage Free, Brookshire‘s, Country Morning, and Sunups.

According to the FDA, the eggs were also sold at smaller retail outlets. No other Midwest Poultry Services products are included in the recall.

Only eggs with the identifying plant codes P-1950 or 0840962 and a Julian Date between 157 and 184 printed on the side of the carton are affected.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream and cause more severe illness.

Consumers who purchased the recalled eggs are advised not to eat them and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
