Kebbi Govt Denies Claims of Abandoning Communities to Bandits

The Kebbi State Government has rejected allegations that some communities in the state have been left at the mercy of bandits and terrorists, describing the claims as politically motivated and misleading.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Nasir Idris, Ahmed Idris, the government stressed that the governor remained actively engaged in tackling insecurity through collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders.

“The attention of the Kebbi State Government has been drawn to a misleading narrative being circulated by some members of the opposition, alleging that certain communities have been abandoned to bandits and terrorists,” the statement read.

The government emphasized that security operations often involve sensitive strategies and intelligence that cannot be publicly disclosed.

“The fact that certain actions are not publicly announced does not mean that nothing is being done,” it added.Governor Idris, according to the statement, is “deeply committed to the safety and well-being of the people, working tirelessly every day to address security challenges across the state.”

The administration highlighted its efforts to ensure residents can live without fear and for farmers to safely return to their farmlands.

It also cautioned politicians against exploiting security challenges for partisan purposes, urging responsible public commentary.Kebbi, like other states in Nigeria’s North-West, continues to grapple with attacks by armed groups.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies and pursuing lasting peace, stability, and development across the state.
