Kano: Police arrest 46-year-old fraudster, recover N23m

The Kano state Police Command Monday announced the arrest of  a 46-year-old man, Muhammad Dahiru, a suspected fraudster who generates fake bank transaction alerts to defraud victims.

This was made known by the Kano state Police Commissioner, CP Adamu Bakori, while addressing newsmen at the state command headquarters.

He stated that the accused fraudster confessed to defrauding a company of about N13.2 million and another one of seven electric motorcycles worth N10 million.

He said that in the meantime, detectives are making efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate for prosecution.

“The command has arrested one Muhammad Dahiru, a 46-year- old man, who is a notorious fraudster known for generating fake alerts.

“He confessed to defrauding a company of N13, 154, 029:00, and electrical motorcycles valued at N10 million,” the commissioner stated.

Giving a further breakdown of the command’s achievements in the month of August, the CP said a total of 244 suspects were arrested for various offences.

These include 8 suspected kidnappers, 28 suspected armed robbers, 7 suspected motor vehicle thieves, 19 suspected drug dealers, 117 suspected thugs and 65 others for various other offences.

He concluded that dangerous weapons, vehicles and illicit drugs were all recovered as a result of the arrests made in the month under review.
