Kaigama: Some People Said They’re Going After Him For Claiming To Be A Boko Haram Mediator -Ndume
During an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, alleged that several people from his constituency had accused Samaila Kaigama, president of the Borno South Youth Alliance, of extorting money from them by claiming he could facilitate the release of their relatives abducted by Boko Haram.
Ndume said the complaints surfaced after Kaigama made allegations against him, with some residents of Borno South reaching out to share their experiences. He claimed that the individuals alleged Kaigama collected money from them after presenting himself as a mediator who had access to Boko Haram and could negotiate the release of kidnapped relatives but failed to fulfill those promises.
According to him, “He has used that to extort money from people. They have a case now after he made those grievous allegations; some people from my constituency came out to say, “Look, we are going after him because he has defrauded us and extorted money, claiming that he’s a mediator and that he’s going to talk to Boko Haram to release some of their relatives, which up to now he didn’t.”
Ndume added that the allegations have reinforced his belief that the matter should be handled by security agencies as a serious national security issue rather than a personal dispute. He said he has already informed the relevant authorities and expressed confidence that they would investigate the claims…....
