The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa (ABG), has condemned the killing of 30 residents of Naridon community in Kauru Local Government Area, describing the attack as a horrific act that requires urgent and decisive action by government and security agencies.

In a statement issued Monday, ABG expressed shock over the midnight assault, during which gunmen reportedly killed innocent men, women and children, while also destroying homes and displacing several families. Blueprint reports

The PDP flag bearer, speaking on behalf of himself, his family and the party in Kaduna State, described the killings as senseless, insisting that there could be no justification for the taking of innocent lives.

‘Attack on humanity’

According to him, the incident was not only an attack on the people of Naridon but also an assault on the collective humanity of Nigerians and the constitutional right of citizens to live in peace, security and dignity.

He lamented the recurring attacks on communities across Kaduna State, saying the continued loss of innocent lives had become unacceptable.

ABG stated that Kaduna could no longer continue to witness repeated attacks on its communities while criminal elements operated with impunity.

Calls for decisive government action

The PDP governorship candidate called on the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government and security agencies to move beyond expressions of sympathy by taking concrete steps to halt the cycle of violence.

He urged the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to Kauru Local Government Area and other vulnerable communities, saying a stronger security presence was necessary to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.

ABG also demanded a comprehensive investigation into the Naridon killings, calling on security agencies to track down those responsible and ensure they are arrested and prosecuted.

According to him, bringing the perpetrators to justice would serve as a deterrent against future attacks.

Assistance for victims

The opposition politician appealed for urgent humanitarian support for survivors, injured victims and families displaced by the attack.

He noted that many residents had lost relatives, homes and their means of livelihood, stressing that they required immediate relief and government assistance.

Advocates community security

ABG also advocated the strengthening of community-based security structures to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies.

He urged traditional rulers, including emirs, chiefs and village heads, to reinforce local intelligence gathering by ensuring that visitors to their communities are properly identified and documented.

He explained that the proposal was not intended to encourage profiling but to promote accountability, grassroots vigilance and stronger collaboration between communities and security agencies.

According to him, traditional institutions should be adequately empowered and integrated into efforts aimed at protecting rural communities from criminal attacks.

Calls for calm

While extending his condolences to the families of those killed, ABG prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and urged residents of Kauru Local Government Area and the wider Southern Kaduna region to remain peaceful.

He cautioned against reprisals and encouraged citizens to continue supporting lawful efforts to restore peace and security.

The PDP governorship candidate stressed that the Naridon tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for authorities, reminding governments at all levels that the protection of lives and property remains their primary constitutional responsibility.
