Jonathan Meets Tinubu Behind Closed Doors in Aso Rock
Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday reportedly held a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa.
According to The Nation, no official statement was released after the closed-door session, fueling speculation about its purpose.
Jonathan has remained silent amid ongoing rumors of a possible political comeback ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In May, the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed to have submitted Jonathan’s name and credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate. However, his name was absent from the list of 19 presidential candidates published by INEC on Saturday.
While details of the meeting remain unclear, observers believe it may be connected to political developments and alignments ahead of the polls.
