Vice President JD Vance is now openly admitting what critics have said for months: the Trump administration botched the rollout of the Epstein files last year. Speaking on “The Joe Rogan Experience” in an episode that came out Wednesday, Vance didn’t dodge the criticism. When asked whether the administration mishandled the release, Vance essentially agreed, saying they had gotten it wrong, particularly in how it was communicated to the public.

“If people want to say we mishandled the Epstein release, guilty. We did mishandle it, especially the communications of it,” he said. “We absolutely screwed up the comms of the Epstein files like we just did,” Vance added.

Why This Admission MattersThis is one of the most direct admissions yet from anyone inside the Trump administration that the Epstein files rollout turned into a serious political headache. At the time of the release, observers pointed to messy communication and redactions that left a lot of people scratching their heads, which only added fuel to the political pressure already building on Trump and his team.

He also gave some numbers behind the scenes of the investigation. Vance said investigators had gathered about 6 million documents in total, and roughly 3 million of those were tied in some way to the Epstein estate.

He went further, claiming Epstein had connections reaching into the highest levels of both American and Israeli intelligence. “He clearly had connections to the highest levels of American intelligence. He clearly had connections to the highest levels of Israeli intelligence,” Vance said.
