IRGC Threatens British Bases if US Launches Strikes on Iran From UK Territory

The IRGC has issued a strong warning to Britain, stating that any UK military base utilized by the US for attacks on Iran would be considered a “legitimate target.”

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that any British military base used by the United States to launch attacks on Iranian territory would become a “legitimate target”, sharply escalating tensions between Tehran and London.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the IRGC accused Britain of playing a significant role in recent US and Israeli military operations against Iran and cautioned London against deeper involvement in the conflict.

The warning comes amid heightened speculation about the use of British facilities for American military operations in the Middle East.

RAF Fairford named in IRGC statement

The IRGC claimed that the United States had recently used RAF Fairford in England as a launch point for B-1 bomber missions after American warships in the Indian Ocean had exhausted their stock of cruise missiles.

“Any base used for aggression against Iranian territory is a legitimate target for us,” the IRGC said.

The force also urged Britain “not to further worsen its record”, accusing London of being “a principal architect of instability” in the Middle East and alleging that it had played one of the largest roles in recent US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

British authorities have not publicly responded to the specific allegations regarding RAF Fairford.

Claims of strike on Al-Udeid base

The IRGC also repeated earlier claims that it had struck a US electronic warfare unit at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar and damaged the facility’s air traffic control tower.

US officials have not confirmed those claims, and independent verification has not been established.

Tehran accuses Washington of using diplomacy as cover

Iran further accused the United States of attempting to use renewed calls for negotiations as a way to buy time to rebuild military capabilities before resuming attacks.

The IRGC said Tehran would not allow Washington to benefit from what it described as “deceptive ceasefires.”

Conflict has expanded across the Gulf

Regional tensions have remained high since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran in February. Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US military assets across the Gulf.

Although the two sides signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding last month aimed at ending the conflict, tensions escalated again last week over the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a new exchange of strikes and renewed US threats of military action against Iran.
