Iranian Airstrikes Hit Kuwait Water Desalination Plant, Army Facilities; Multiple Troops Wounded
Iranian missile and drone strikes hit a desalination plant and Kuwaiti military facilities, damaging water infrastructure and injuring several soldiers.
Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Kuwait on Friday, striking a power and water desalination plant and several Kuwaiti Army facilities, damaging critical infrastructure and injuring multiple military personnel.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy confirmed that the strike sparked a fire at the desalination facility and damaged several power generation units. The ministry said the blaze had been contained and repair work on the damaged equipment was underway.
About 90% of Kuwait’s drinking water is produced through desalination, making the targeted facility a key source of potable water for the desert nation.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Army said, “the sinful Iranian aggression resulted in the targeting of several facilities and camps affiliated with the Kuwaiti Army using hostile drones, leading to injuries among a number of Kuwaiti Land Force personnel while carrying out their duties.” The military did not disclose the exact number of those injured.
The latest attack follows a series of US strikes that targeted infrastructure across southern Iran. Iranian officials reported explosions in Ahvaz, Qeshm, Bushehr, Dashti, Bostan, Sirik, and Bandar-e Lengeh, with Bandar Abbas among the hardest-hit areas.
According to Iranian media, US strikes hit the Kahurestan Bridge and a residential area in Bandar Abbas, killing two people and injuring eight. Reports also said a railway facility and a communications tower were damaged, causing power outages in nearby areas.
Officials in Hormozgan province said six bridges along key transport routes were damaged. Elsewhere, Iranshahr Airport and a civilian airport building in Semnan reportedly sustained damage, while a bottled water facility in Dehloran and areas around the Khondab heavy-water facility were also struck.
Iranian media further reported that more than 200 patients were evacuated from Baghaei Specialized Hospital in Ahvaz after strikes reportedly rendered the facility inoperable, though no casualties were reported there.
