International reports say Russia has claimed to have intercepted and shot down 555 Ukrainian drones and four long-range missiles in a series of strikes targeting various parts of Russia and Moscow-occupied Crimea.

The incident comes as the war between the two sides continues to show a new trend in the widespread use of drone technology in long-range attacks.

According to Russian authorities, air defense systems including Tor and Pantsir were deployed to counter the wave of attacks.
