Insecurity Will Soon Be History in Nigeria, Akpabio Assures Nigerians

• Senate President Godswill Akpabio says the Tinubu administration is intensifying efforts to end insecurity across the country.

• He urged Nigerians not to rely on social media narratives, insisting they do not accurately reflect the nation’s security situation.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is taking decisive steps to address the country’s security challenges, expressing confidence that insecurity will soon become a thing of the past.

Akpabio gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving members of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), led by its National President, Dr Lima Ahmed, during a courtesy visit to the National Assembly in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to tackling insecurity and restoring peace across the country.

“As Nigerians, we are all aware of the insecurity challenges we are currently facing, and all I can say is that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is giving the situation his utmost attention, and that is what led to the recent release of the schoolchildren who were abducted in Oyo State,” Akpabio said.

He added, “The current administration is doing a whole lot, and I can assure you that very soon, the issue of insecurity would be a thing of the past. Don’t rely on what you hear or see on social media; they are not a true reflection of what is happening in our country.”

Speaking on women’s participation in politics, Akpabio suggested that the reluctance of many women to support female candidates during elections could be linked to the conduct of some women who had previously held public office but failed to use the opportunity to advance the interests of others.

The Senate President also pledged his personal support, as well as that of the Senate, for the forthcoming international ladies’ golf tournament to be hosted at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

Earlier, Dr Lima Ahmed thanked Akpabio for receiving the association’s delegation and formally invited him to the tournament. She also decorated the Senate President as the Grand Patron of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria.
