India Voices Concern Over Escalating West Asia Tensions, Urges Restraint and Return to Dialogue

India has voiced significant concern regarding the rising tensions in West Asia, particularly after recent attacks on commercial shipping in international waters.

India on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in West Asia, warning that the recent attacks in the region could undermine peace, security and stability.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the latest escalation follows fresh attacks targeting commercial shipping transiting international waterways in the region.

“India is deeply concerned over the recent attacks and escalation of tensions in West Asia, which have followed fresh targeting of commercial shipping transiting international waterways in the region,” the statement said.

The government cautioned that the developments pose a serious risk to regional peace and stability and called on all sides to avoid further escalation.

“These developments risk undermining regional peace, security and stability,” the MEA said.

India urged all parties involved to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions and ensure the protection of civilians. It also stressed the importance of safeguarding the uninterrupted movement of energy supplies and commercial shipping through international waterways.

“We call upon all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, and ensure protection of civilians as well as the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies and commerce,” the statement added.

Reiterating its longstanding position, India called for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, urging all stakeholders to return to dialogue.

“We urge the parties to return to dialogue and diplomacy to achieve a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict,” the MEA said.

India’s statement comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia following a fresh wave of attacks in the region and growing concerns over the security of key maritime trade routes, which are crucial for global energy supplies and international commerce.
