Former Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume, has disowned a purported statement circulating on various media platforms regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary in Imo state, describing it as false, unauthorised and the handiwork of political mischief makers.

The former lawmaker, in a statement issued by his communications office on Wednesday, specifically distanced himself from a publication titled: “A Message of Gratitude, Unity, and a Clarion Call to Rebuild Okigwe Zone,” insisting that he neither authored nor authorised its release. Araraume said the publication was deliberately fabricated to mislead the public, distort his political position and create unnecessary tension within the ruling party in Imo State.

Disowns alleged statement

The former senator said at no point did he approve the circulation of the purported statement and urged party members and the general public to disregard it in its entirety.

According to him, the documents were the handiwork of political opportunists seeking to sow discord within the APC and misrepresent his views on developments surrounding the Imo North Senatorial Primary.

“The publication is a complete fabrication and should be disregarded by members of the public. It does not emanate from me or my office,” the statement said.

He maintained that any official communication from him would only be disseminated through recognised and authorised channels.

Reaffirms loyalty to APC

Araraume used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment and loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, stressing that he remains a disciplined and steadfast member of the party.

The former senator said his loyalty to the APC, its leadership and ideals remains unwavering, adding that he has always conducted himself in line with the constitution and principles of the party.

He noted that he remains committed to the internal democratic processes of the APC and would continue to support every legitimate decision taken by the party leadership.

The statement comes amid heightened political activities in Imo State following the APC primary for the Imo North Senatorial District.

Awaiting party’s final decision

Araraume said contrary to the claims contained in the fabricated publication, he had not declared himself the APC candidate for the senatorial seat.

According to him, he is patiently awaiting the official position and final decision of the party regarding the primary process.

“As a firm believer in constitutional democracy and party supremacy, Senator Araraume is patiently awaiting the official position and final decision of the party regarding the Imo North Senatorial Primary,” the statement read.

He insisted that he remains committed to due process and would abide by the party’s decision.

Political observers believe the clarification may be aimed at calming tensions within the party and preventing further speculation over the outcome of the primary process.

Speaks on relationship with Governor Uzodinma

The former senator also dismissed reports suggesting a strained relationship between him and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Araraume described such claims as baseless and existing only in the imagination of those behind the fake publications.

He maintained that he enjoys a cordial and respectful relationship with the governor and that both leaders remain committed to the peace, progress and development of Imo State.

“Any suggestion of disagreement, hostility or political friction between us should be disregarded,” the statement added.

The clarification is expected to douse speculations of divisions within the APC in Imo State, especially as political realignments continue ahead of future elections.

Calls for unity in APC

The former lawmaker further emphasised that the success of the APC remains a collective responsibility and urged party members to remain united.

He said the strength of the ruling party lies in its cohesion, mutual respect and cooperation among stakeholders.

Araraume stressed that he would continue to work towards fostering peace and unity within the party and would not allow the actions of political mischief makers to derail the APC’s objectives.

He warned against attempts to create divisions within the party, insisting that such efforts would ultimately fail.

Commitment to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

The former senator reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said he remains focused, law-abiding and committed to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting national development and strengthening democratic institutions.

Araraume also pledged to continue pursuing the unity and development of Imo State and Nigeria through lawful and responsible political engagement.

He subsequently called on APC members, the people of Imo North, the media and the general public to ignore the purported publications, insisting that they are false, misleading and of no consequence.

The statement, issued from the Office of Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume’s Communications Desk at Ugwumba Villa in Isiebu, Isiala Mbano, reaffirmed the former senator’s commitment to the APC and his determination to continue contributing to the growth and stability of the party and the country.
