Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress Oyewunmi Olufunmilayo has opened up about the challenges she faced in balancing her personal life with her career.

Speaking in an interview with FeelRightNews TV, she recounted a difficult period in her marriage, when her passion for acting was met with hostility from her husband.

She revealed that he often responded violently whenever she returned from film locations, accusing her of being unfaithful simply because she interacted with male colleagues on set.

The actress explained that despite her repeated attempts to clarify the nature of her work, her husband refused to believe her.

This growing tension forced her to take a bold stance, demanding that he either support her professional pursuits or face the end of their union.

According to Olufunmilayo, her husband initially dismissed her warning, believing that she would not have the courage to leave him. However, she followed through on her decision, prioritizing her career and personal dignity over remaining in an abusive relationship.

In her words: “Whenever I returned from movie location, my husband would beat me, saying I allowed another man to touch me on movie set. I usually explained to him that it’s not real, but he wouldn’t believe me.”

“It got to a point that I had to tell him that he had to choose between me and my career or divorce me. He asked what I meant, thinking I was joking and that I couldn’t leave him. But I did; I divorced my husband,” she added…....
