Gunmen Kill APC Ward Chairman, Another Resident in Kano Attack
Suspected bandits shot dead the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman of Rantan Ward in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Garba Buba, and another resident during a nighttime raid on the community.
Locals reported that the attackers stormed Rantan on Sunday night and opened fire. Buba was wounded in the assault and later died in hospital while receiving treatment.
Sulaiman Zunduma was also killed. Residents said the gunmen shot another person, identified as Alhaji Sa’adu.
A family member, Hafsat Garba Rantan, confirmed Buba’s death, describing him as her paternal uncle.
The killings occurred hours after a separate attack on Chiromawa community in Garun Malam Local Government Area, where gunmen abducted the Sarkin Noman Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa.
Three people were reportedly killed in that Saturday night incident, which took place around 11 p.m.
Parts of Kano North that border Katsina and Zamfara states have faced repeated bandit attacks in recent times, leaving residents in fear.
