Governor Oborevwori Donates Operational Vehicles To Nigerian Correctional Service

​The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori on Wednesday, handed over five brand-new operational vehicles donated by his administration to the state command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The presentation which took place at the Government House, Asaba, underscores his administration’s commitment to strengthening the justice system and enhancing security across the state.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, Governor Oborevwori, emphasized that an efficient correctional service relies heavily on robust logistics and seamless mobility.

He said that ​the operational vehicles will enhance the day-to-day activities of correctional officers, improve response capacity, strengthen supervision and coordination, and support the effective discharge of their responsibilities.

The governor explained that by equipping the command with the tools it needs to perform optimally, the state government is reinforcing its commitment to a more efficient justice and security system.

Reaffirming the commitment of the state government to working with all security and justice institutions in building a safer and more secure state, he said the presentation of the operational vehicles demonstrate the resolve to strengthen the justice system and support the institutions responsible for maintaining peace, security, and the rule of law.

“While the Nigerian Correctional Service is a federal institution, its role is critical to the safety, security, and well-being of our people.

“That is why we will continue to support and partner with federal security agencies. A secure and peaceful Delta State remains the foundation for sustainable development and shared prosperity,” the governor added.

Earlier, the Controller-General of Nigeria Correctional Services, Mr. Sylvester Nwackuche, represented by Chuke Idoko, Controller of Correctional Services, Delta State Command, thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State government for the donation and assured that the vehicles would perform the purpose they were meant for.
