FRSC promotes 7,472 personnel nationwide

The Federal Road Safety Corps has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, leadership and road safety operations across the country.

The promotion covers 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, according to the corps, which said the exercise was designed to reward merit and recognise personnel who had demonstrated dedication, competence, discipline and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

The development was announced on Friday by the Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja, Osondu Ohaeri.

7,472 personnel promoted

Ohaeri said the promotion formed part of the corps’ efforts to develop its workforce and strengthen its operational capacity across the country.

He explained that the newly promoted personnel had distinguished themselves through their years of service, competence and commitment to the responsibilities assigned to them.

According to him, the promotion is expected to motivate personnel and encourage greater dedication to the corps’ mandate of promoting safety and reducing road traffic crashes.

The FRSC said the exercise would also help strengthen leadership at different levels of its operations while ensuring that experienced personnel are entrusted with greater responsibilities.

Decoration begins August 26

The corps said Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers had been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands.

The decoration exercise is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, August 26, to Friday, August 28, 2026.

The corps urged all affected personnel to participate in the exercise through their respective commands and use their new positions to contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s road safety objectives.

The promotion is expected to see the beneficiaries assume additional responsibilities in various operational and administrative roles across the country.

Promotion comes with responsibility

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility, urging the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Mohammed said every new rank should be reflected in improved professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery.

He congratulated the newly promoted officers and marshals, but reminded them that their elevation would also bring greater expectations from the corps, the Federal Government and Nigerians.

The Corps Marshal urged the beneficiaries to see their promotion as a call to greater responsibility rather than merely an advancement in rank.

FRSC stresses professionalism

Mohammed also stressed that the strength of the FRSC could not be measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement structures.

He said the quality, character and commitment of the men and women working within the organisation remained central to achieving safer roads across Nigeria.

The Corps Marshal therefore charged the newly promoted personnel to maintain discipline in the discharge of their duties and uphold the values of the organisation.

He also urged them to treat members of the public with dignity and ensure that their conduct both on and off the road reflected the standards expected of FRSC personnel.

Road safety operations to be strengthened

The promotion comes as the FRSC continues to intensify its operational, technological and public enlightenment efforts aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide.

The corps has maintained that effective road safety management requires a combination of enforcement, public education, technology and a professionally trained workforce.

According to the FRSC, having motivated and professionally developed personnel is essential to sustaining its interventions and delivering measurable improvements in road safety.

The newly promoted officers and marshals are therefore expected to play an important role in strengthening the corps’ operations and improving its engagement with road users.

Newly promoted personnel urged to do more

Mohammed urged the beneficiaries to approach their new responsibilities with renewed purpose and commitment to service.

He encouraged them to do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction, stressing that every additional stripe, pip or insignia comes with increased expectations.

The Corps Marshal said promotion within the FRSC should not be regarded simply as the wearing of a new rank but as a responsibility that must ultimately be measured through service and performance.

The corps congratulated all the promoted personnel and wished them success as they assume their new responsibilities, while urging them to remain committed to the goal of making Nigerian roads safer for all road users.
