FG, World Bank flagg off skills acquisition training for 670 Adamawa youths

The federal government  through the Federal Ministry of Education under its IDEA- TVET initiative in collaborations with world Bank and other partners,Friday, flagged off another batch of skills acquisition training for 670 youths in Adamawa state.

Speaking at the event, the training project manager, Dr. Mohammed Yusuf, said the training marks another significance milestone in their collective efforts to equipping young people in the state with practical market relevant and vocational skills for self reliance, job creation and employment.

He noted that, The IDEAs-TVET initiative  represents morethan just a skill acquisition but it is also an investment in human capacity, entrepreneurship employability, self reliance  and future of communities.

Also speaking, the National project cordinator of IDEA,s – TVET initiative, Mrs. Blessing Ogwu, represented by  the procurement officer, Salisu Abuubaida, said that since its commencement, the project has recorded successes  across various components especially in the area of critical investment in infrastructures, equipments and human capital development.

He listed some of the achievements to include massive renovations and equipping of workshops across technical colleges, provision of essential facilities and equipments, strengthening of institutions and regulators responsibilities for delivering technical and vocational education among other intervations.

According to him, the project has also  supported the up-skilling of 4000 technical teachers  and instructors  and taken skills development to about 80,000 Nigerisns across the country  including the current beneficiaries of the project in the state.

On his part, Adamawa State Commissioner for Education,  represented  by Mr.Inmocrnt Gideon,  stressed the importance of skills acquisition  in the development of any society society, urging youths  to stop wasting their time waiting for government jobs which are not readily available but embrace skills and become job creators rather than job seekers.
