A father of 11, Lawal Hamisu, has asked a Sharia Court in Kaduna State to compel his 27-year-old daughter, Fatima Lawal, to get married.

Hamisu made the request before Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Tuesday through his counsel, H.B. Debo.

According to the complainant, his daughter has completed her Higher National Diploma (HND) but has yet to present a prospective husband despite attracting several admirers.

He urged the court to direct her to present a suitable suitor so that the marriage could be formalised, alleging that her mother had turned the children against him.

Responding before the court, Fatima said she currently had no serious suitor, explaining that although some men had shown interest in her, none had formally sought her hand in marriage.

Presiding Judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, described the matter as delicate because it involved a dispute between a parent and child.

The judge said he would hold separate discussions with both parties to better understand the issues before offering guidance.

The case was adjourned until August 3 for a ruling.
