Faleke to Blueprint Newspapers: Your award’ll spur us to do more
Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Hon. James Faleke has appreciated Blueprint Newspapers Limited for listing him as one of its award recipients.
Faleke has been nominated as recipient of Blueprint’s 2025 Efficient Public Finance Oversight Award at the event billed for August 18, 2026.
He stated this while receiving the award letter from a team of the newspaper, led by its Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Editorial Board, Hajiya Zainab Okino in his office on Tuesday.
“Our oversight of finance is to ensure that things are done properly. We’re trying our best. It’s not perfect. We are not there yet. We pray that Nigeria’ll be better off.
“Now more solid foundation is being laid. And with this foundation, all we need to do is to build upon it, both institutionally and infrastructural-wise.
“I hope that the recognition will spur us to do more and keep us abreast of things that could bring us down,” Faleke said.
Speaking earlier, Hajiya Okino informed the lawmaker that the Awards Selection Committee, “comprising eminent Nigerians of proven integrity and discernment, found him eminently qualify for the prestigious award.”
She added that it was because of his “pivotal role in strengthening legislative scrutiny of government’s fiscal framework, particularly in revenue generation, taxation and expenditure governance.”
