Ex- Ogun first lady commissions AI, digital skills hub in Osun

​Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, wife of former Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun and Yeye Moremi Oodua, has inaugurated the YMO AI & Digital Training Hub in Ile-Ife, Osun State, to equip youth, students, and unemployed graduates with practical technology skills.

​The initiative offers training in artificial intelligence, digital technology, coding, and entrepreneurship to prepare participants for the evolving demands of the global digital economy.

​Speaking at the inauguration weekend,  Amosun emphasised the necessity of shifting young people from passive consumers to active innovators.

​“I strongly believe that our young people must not merely be consumers of technology; they must be equipped to become creators, innovators, entrepreneurs, and responsible leaders in the digital age.

“The Hub is more than a community project. It is an investment in human capital and a platform through which young people can discover their potential and prepare themselves for the opportunities of tomorrow”, she said

​Also speaking at the event, wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Global Ambassador of the Queen Moremi Ajasoro Initiative, lauded the project as a strategic response to youth unemployment.

She noted that with Nigeria’s high volume of annual graduates outpacing the availability of white-collar jobs, practical skills in fields like graphics, AI, and digital marketing are vital for creating employable, self-reliant individuals.

The hub is expected to cater for secondary and tertiary school leavers, students, young people seeking technology-based careers, entrepreneurs, small-business owners and interested members of the community.

Its training approach will combine 20 per cent theory, 60 per cent practical exercises and 20 per cent projects and assessments, with participants expected to apply the skills acquired to real-world assignments.

Participants will be trained to use digital tools, apply AI to everyday tasks, create professional digital content, use productivity software, build basic websites and digital projects, and market products and services online.

Successful participants will then receive YMO AI & Digital Skills certificates for the aspects of the training programme they complete, while mentorship, portfolio development, networking, internships and partnership opportunities will also be provided.
