In an interview with Creative Lord TV, Senator Shehu Sani stated that his grandmother protected some Igbo people in Kaduna during the Nigerian Civil War

Sani said that when the Civil War began, Igbo residents and business owners living in the Doka area of Kaduna were targeted and attacked.

Sani said some Igbo people fled to his grandmother’s house at night, looking for a safe place to hide and she took them in. He said his grandmother hid them in her house and took care of them until the war ended.

In Sani’s words: “Some of the Igbos ran for their lives. They crossed the graveyard, seeking for a way to escape and then at that time my grandmum came out of her house and quickly received them. It was dark so she told them to go into her house and locked the door…....
