Defend Your Credentials or Drop Out – Peter Obi Challenges Presidential Candidates

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared that all contenders in the 2027 general elections must openly defend their credentials, records, and visions before Nigerians or withdraw from the race.

Speaking at a world press conference in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Friday, Obi stressed that true leadership requires presence and empathy, promising to personally visit communities affected by insecurity and flooding to understand their struggles.

“Every candidate must be willing to defend their credentials, defend their records, and subject their vision to open scrutiny. True leadership requires presence and empathy. No one can lead from the front without standing with communities devastated by banditry, criminality, terrorism, or flooding,” Obi said.

The former Anambra governor outlined his mission to rebuild Nigeria through unity, improved security, and an economic shift from consumption to production.

He pledged to prioritise agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure while tackling poverty, unemployment, and insecurity.

Obi urged voters to demand accountability and issue-based campaigns, warning against propaganda, ethnic or religious politics.

He emphasised that the 2027 election should be about ideas and solutions to Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
