Court Denies Bail to Suspect in Abuja School Attack Plot
- A Federal High Court in Abuja refused bail to a man facing terrorism and cybercrime charges over an alleged plot to attack schools in the FCT.
- The Department of State Services concluded its case after presenting an audio-visual recording of the defendant’s interview as evidence.
- The trial has been adjourned until September 24 for the defendant to begin presenting his defence.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has denied bail to a man accused of plotting attacks on schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), paving the way for him to remain in custody as he prepares to open his defence in the terrorism trial.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik refused the bail application filed by John Jude Agbo, ruling that the defence failed to convince the court that the defendant would not abscond if released.

Agbo is being prosecuted on terrorism and cybercrime charges for allegedly planning coordinated attacks on schools, students and teachers within the FCT.
The ruling came after the Department of State Services (DSS) concluded its case with the testimony of its fourth witness, who detailed the agency’s investigation into the defendant and his alleged associates.
During the proceedings, the DSS operative tendered an audio-visual recording of Agbo’s interview with investigators. The court admitted the recording into evidence and played it in open court before the prosecution formally closed its case.
Following the prosecution’s submissions, Justice Abdulmalik ordered that the defendant remain in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the conclusion of the trial.
The case was subsequently adjourned until September 24, when Agbo is expected to begin presenting his defence.
