China denies Trump's election claims, calling them 'totally fabricated'

While addressing the nation on Thursday, President Donald Trump once again claimed the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election was rigged and accused Beijing of meddling with the results.

In response on Friday, China maintained that it has never interfered in U.S. elections and possesses no interest in doing so, while calling on Washington to halt its “groundless accusations.”

“The relevant allegations by the U.S. are entirely fabricated and aimed at vilifying China,” said China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian. “We have no interest in interfering in US elections and have never done so.”

During a daily press briefing in Beijing, Lin urged the United States to stop making unsubstantiated allegations against China.

When questioned about how this situation might impact Chinese President Xi Jinping’s planned visit to the U.S. this coming September, the spokesperson stated, “As I just said, we urge the U.S. to stop making an issue of China in its elections and do something conducive to China-U.S. relations.”

Following a meeting between Trump and Xi during Trump’s visit to Beijing in mid-May, both nations announced plans to implement a new framework for managing bilateral relations. Trump extended an invitation for Xi to travel to the United States in September, an invitation that Beijing has since confirmed Xi accepted.
