Borno Commissioner Threatens to Cut Off Fingers of Those Who Vote Against APC

Sainna Buba, Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, has ignited controversy after threatening physical harm against political opponents who refuse to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at a campaign inauguration event organized by the Tinubu City Boy Movement, a support group for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and his anticipated 2027 re-election bid, Buba used violent imagery to warn critics.

“Whoever shows us a finger, we are ready to cut off his fingers… Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger,” he declared.

Beyond threats of retaliation, Buba also suggested that government benefits would be withheld from non-supporters, saying:

“The government is our government. Those who follow us will enjoy the honey; if you refuse, then you will be flogged.”

His remarks have drawn sharp criticism from observers who argue that such rhetoric undermines democratic principles and endangers public safety.

Analysts warn that aggressive statements from serving officials erode political tolerance and could heighten tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Neither Buba nor the Borno State Government has issued a clarification or official response at the time of reporting.

The incident comes just days after another APC official, Danjuma Shekwolo, Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the FCT, told residents to either vote for the party in 2027 or leave the area.
