Bandits Kill Resident, Injure Two in Fresh Raid on Kano Community

Fresh concerns over security in Kano State have emerged after suspected bandits reportedly attacked Makoda town in Makoda Local Government Area, killing one resident, injuring two others and making away with an undisclosed sum of money.

The late-night raid, which occurred on Thursday, was disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on X on Friday.

According to the security analyst, the attackers, numbering more than 30, rode into the community on motorcycles before opening fire indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee for safety.

The assault reportedly claimed the life of one resident, while two others sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.

Bakatsine further alleged that the gunmen looted an undisclosed amount of cash before escaping from the community.

Residents, he said, described the assailants as heavily armed and said the incident threw the town into panic as people scrambled to avoid the gunfire.

Questioning the growing reach of armed groups, Bakatsine warned that the latest attack could signal an expansion of bandit activities into areas previously considered less vulnerable.

“Last night, suspected bandits launched an attack on Makoda town, Makoda LGA in Kano State, killing one person, injuring two others and reportedly fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash,” he wrote.

He added that, “Residents said more than 30 heavily armed men arrived on motorcycles, opened fire indiscriminately and left the community in panic before escaping. If armed groups can now strike communities in Kano with such ease, what does that say about the country’s ability to prevent insecurity from spreading even further?”

There was no immediate statement from the Kano State Police Command or other security agencies on the incident as of the time of filing this report. The identities of the deceased and the injured victims were also yet to be officially released.
