Ban on durbar and horse riding stands – Kano Police
The Kano State Police Command has reiterated the ban on durbar and horse-riding activities in public places, warning individuals and organisations planning such events to comply with the directive.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori restated the restriction while addressing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano State. Bakori said the ban was introduced by the Kano State Government following consultations with relevant security agencies as part of measures to safeguard public peace and maintain law and order.
He expressed concern over reported violations of the directive, stressing that the security concerns that prompted the restriction remained. According to the commissioner, a joint security meeting resolved that individuals, institutions and organisations seeking to hold durbar or horse-riding activities in public places must submit a written request to the police command at least 72 hours before the proposed event.
Bakori explained that the advance notice would enable the police and other security agencies to conduct necessary security assessments and make adequate arrangements to protect participants and members of the public. He urged residents, traditional institutions and event organisers to comply with the directive and cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace across the state.
Bakori also assured residents that the police command, working alongside other security agencies, remained committed to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order throughout Kano State.
