Aviation workers’ strike won’t disrupt airport operations – FAAN
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured that the industrial action will not disrupt airport operations.
The management in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, also assured the travelling public of its commitment to maintaining safe, secure and orderly airport operations.
According to the management, “FAAN recognises the legitimate role of organised labour and supports the ongoing efforts of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo and other stakeholders towards an amicable resolution of the issues at hand.”
The management said in the interim, FAAN would work closely with the relevant aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to closely monitor developments arising from the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions.
The Authority confirmed that earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights within the airside environment had been addressed through ongoing inter-agency coordination, and measures.
“FAAN remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s airports remain safe, secure, functional and accessible to passengers and other airport users.
“Passengers are advised to remain calm and maintain contact with their respective airlines for real-time information regarding their flights.
“FAAN appreciates the understanding and patience of the travelling public and remains confident that the ongoing engagements under the leadership of the Minister will lead to a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution,” the management said.
