Army Disowns Fake 2027 Recruitment Exercise

The Nigerian Army has dismissed as fake a recruitment advertisement circulating online for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, warning Nigerians against falling victim to fraudsters exploiting job seekers.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Army’s spokesperson, Col. Appolonia Anele, described the advertisement as fraudulent, stressing that it did not originate from the Nigerian Army or any of its authorised platforms.

She urged members of the public, particularly prospective applicants, to ignore the advert and refrain from making payments to individuals, groups or websites claiming to recruit on behalf of the Army.

According to Anele, the Nigerian Army’s recruitment and commissioning processes are conducted strictly on merit and remain completely free of charge.

She explained that official recruitment announcements are only published through recognised national newspapers, the Nigerian Army’s verified social media platforms and other approved communication channels.

“The advertisement is false, fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigerian Army,” Anele stated.

She further emphasised that no application forms are sold and that no individual or agent has been authorised to facilitate recruitment or demand payment at any stage of the enlistment process.

The Army also warned those responsible for producing and circulating the fake advertisement to desist immediately, disclosing that security agencies had been mobilised to identify, arrest and prosecute all persons involved in the scam.

“Anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law,” the spokesperson warned.

Reaffirming its commitment to preserving the credibility of its recruitment system, the Army advised Nigerians to verify all recruitment information through official channels and promptly report suspicious recruitment activities to the nearest military formation or security agency.
