'Armed Forces Will Not Relent': Iran Warns US, Says 'Hormuz Will Never Open by Aggression'

Iran has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened through US aggression, amid rising tensions following Donald Trump’s announcement that a ceasefire is over.

The Strait of Hormuz will never be opened by US aggression, Iran said on Tuesday, as both countries put forward their bid to dominate and control operations in the strategic sea passage in the Gulf. Hormuz has been witnessing a heightened escalation since last week after Donald Trump declared that the interim ceasefire based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was over. According to Al Jazeera, Iran’s army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said that the Iranian armed forces will not relent over the key waterway.

In a statement, Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said, “War, evil, and American aggression”, the Iranian army’s spokesperson, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, was cited as saying by the Tasnim news agency.

Adding further, General Mohammad Akraminia said that the country’s armed forces will not relent over the key waterway. Respecting the rights of the Iranian people is the only way to open the Strait of Hormuz, he said.

“We are obligated to avenge the blood of the martyrs, especially the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution,” Akraminia added.

Meanwhile, in another development European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on Monday said airlines should not operate within the airspace of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and above the waters of the Gulf of Oman.

The latest advisory came as missile and drone strikes on Iran by the US, and on Gulf countries by Iran have intensified in the coming days.

The advisory cities “unpredictable military developments, combined with the possible use of missiles, drones, combat aircraft and air-defence systems, create a high risk to civil flights at all altitudes and flight levels within the concerned airspace.”
