Anambra: Police arrest 48-year-old woman with N12m in cash
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old woman after she was allegedly found with N12 million in cash during a stop-and-search operation along the Nkpor–Idiani–Abatete Road.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspect, identified as Mrs Chinwe Okonkwo, an indigene of Imo State, was arrested at about 1:24 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Makama said personnel of the Safer Highway team were conducting routine stop-and-search operations along the road when they intercepted Okonkwo.
The officers reportedly found N12 million in her possession and questioned her about the source of the money.
“The suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory account of the origin of the funds,” Makama said.
The recovered money was registered as an exhibit, while Okonkwo was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Awka.
