Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Monday, said candidates under the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers state will be returned during the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the declaration while speaking as a special guest of honour at the civic reception in his honour by the Rainbow Coalition in Ikwerre local government area of the state.
The FCT minister commended Ikwerre LGA for solidly supporting and standing by him when others were afraid to support his governorship ambition because of the seating governor then, Chief Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi.
Chief Wike said he will continue to show gratitude to the people of Ikwerre by relating with them in his political career.
He said “any person who stood by you during challenging or difficult times is seen as your brother.”
He added that the former Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi, had defined ‘brother’ as one who relates with people or helps somebody that is close, pointing out that throughout Rotimi’s years in government, he never related well with the Ikwerre people in terms of human capital development. “Rather Ameachi went to Daura and established a University,” he said.
Wike stated that when Tinubu became president, he made an Ikwerre man vice- chancellor, in addition to several appointments of Rivers indigenes in positions of trust.
