2027: Enugu governor Mbah’s victory’ll be landslide, APC chairman declares

The Chairman of the Enugu state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, has stated that his party would record a landslide victory in the forthcoming 2027 general election in the state, adding that Governor Mbah would effortlessly clinch his second term bid.

Speaking in an interview on Sunday, Chukwunwike said he had no regrets defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

“Obviously, APC will have a landslide victory in Enugu state. If it were possible, we would say it is a walkover. But because other contestants will get some votes from their families, I don’t think anything or anybody can truncate it,” he stated.

The APC Chairman commended Governor Peter Mbah for his performance in office, noting that the governor used his first two years to demonstrate capacity and commitment to the development of the state.

“When he came into government, the first two years he used to demonstrate his capacity, his ability, and his willingness to develop Enugu state. And he has endeared himself to Enugu people. Most of the things he has done are quite known. I usually don’t like to enumerate them. Is it the roads, the International Conference Centre, or the Hotel Presidential?” he asked.

Dr. Chukwunwike further praised the governor for reviving abandoned projects.

“He is a governor who revamps abandoned projects. Most governors, when they come in, abandon projects started by previous administrations but he came and started completing most abandoned projects.

“The International Conference Centre was abandoned for 16 years under two governors. He came and finished it in 6 months. You can see that the place has transformed Enugu state.”

On the 2027 election, he said,

“He is going to do a second tenure. He is on the right track and Enugu people have apparently accepted him as the sitting governor, because he is already there.”
