The Southern Kaduna Progressives Youth Network has disowned an old video calling for the recall of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, describing its circulation as misleading and politically motivated.

The group said the video, recorded more than a year ago, was being recycled by individuals allegedly sponsored by a defeated aspirant in the recent APC Southern Kaduna Senatorial Primary.

Speaking at a press conference, Al-amin Abbas Jere Chairman, Southern Kaduna Progressives Youth Network said the earlier position was based on incomplete and inaccurate information, which had since been corrected.

The network said its independent review showed that Sen. Katung and his wife were never subjects of any money laundering investigation.

It said the couple became victims of circumstances arising from a legitimate property transaction, adding that earlier reports failed to reflect the true situation.

The group admitted that its previous call for the senator’s recall was unfair, misguided and had been formally withdrawn.

It passed a vote of confidence in Katung, describing him as one of the most impactful leaders produced by Southern Kaduna.

The network also endorsed his bid for a second term, citing his legislative achievements and constituency interventions across the eight local government areas.

It listed the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Manchok, and the Sickle Cell Disorder Research and Therapy Centres Bill.

The group also cited scholarships, boreholes, solar-powered street lights, employment opportunities and other constituency projects facilitated by the senator.

It congratulated Katung’s wife on becoming the 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds, describing the feat as a source of pride for Southern Kaduna and Nigeria.

The network warned against further circulation of the old video, alleging that some individuals were using it to tarnish the senator’s image.

It threatened legal action against anyone using its name to disseminate what it described as false information.

The group reaffirmed its support for the re election of Katung, Gov. Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
