Yobe executive council okays record N73.3 billion for infrastructure, sgriculture
The Yobe state executive council has approved a total of N73,323,775,914.05 for various projects and services aimed at improving the living conditions of residents across the state.
The approvals were made during Thursday’s council meeting presided over by Governor Mai Mala Buni, following extensive deliberations on multiple memoranda submitted for consideration.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, provided a comprehensive breakdown of the approved expenditures.
Mr Bego explained, N28,531,209,000 will be channeled into the procurement of agricultural tools and implements for the governor’s mega agric empowerment programme for 2026, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to food security and agricultural development.
“N4,939,268,813 approved for the construction of Buni-Yadi Modern Motor Park and Grains Market,N5,687,865,141.49 for external facilities and perimeter fence augmentation at the Damaturu Modern Motor Park, which is nearing completion and N3,945,496,686.96 for a new shopping mall and mini-market in Buni-Gari town, Gujba Local Government,” said the Information Commissioner.
He further stated that,the Council ratified N23,974,658,517.5 for two major road projects, N21,904,063,500 for rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the 45km Kalallawa-Kaliyari road in Damaturu and Tarmuwa Local Government Areas and N2,070,595,017.50 for the construction of 7km Damagum-Gubana road, completing a 17km stretch to Gubana town
“N2,248,060,178.6 approved for the purchase of 208 housing units from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, N1,176,589,306.56 for construction of an office complex/headquarters for the Ministry of Housing,N616,609,850.39 for upgrading, remodeling, landscaping, and installation of safety barriers for four major roundabouts in Damaturu Metropolis,N726,087,969.55 for upgrades to the ongoing construction of Damaturu Mega Shopping Mall and N652,627,000 for the acquisition of Fanzar Mixed Farms Ltd,” Bego added.
He further revealed that,the Council alao approved N460,828,450 for procurement of beans for distribution to female small business owners, to be distributed alongside cooking oil, smokeless stoves, cooking utensils, and kitchen wares already procured and stored by the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation. A total of 1,780 bags of 50kg beans will be distributed to beneficiaries.
Additionally, the Commissioner noted that,N364,475,000 was approved for the procurement of 1,000 units of Yamaha GX 390 Grinding Machines for empowerment support to people across the state.
Commissioner Bego emphasised that all memoranda considered by the Council directly addressed the needs of Yobe state’s people and aligned with the Buni administration’s commitment in improving living conditions across the state.
