WPRF Abuja 2026: IGP Disu confirms attendance as Police begin mobilisation

Barely 58 days to the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja 2026, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu has accepted invitation to participate at the global Forum taking place from November 15 to 21, 2026 at the nation’s capital.

The IGP who gave his confirmation at the Force Headquarters on Tuesday while receiving in audience, a top delegation led by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku also assured the partnership of the Nigeria Police Force towards the success of week-long programme.

IGP Disu, a full member of the NIPR highlighted the critical role public relations plays in effective policing, noting that collaboration between the two organisations will be in the best interest of the country.

“The police and NIPR share the core task of building trust. Without trust, policing fails and without credibility, public relations is just noise. In spite of hardwork from the men and officers, the image of the Force is not where we want it at the moment. We will need your support to help Nigerians understand that police is their friend”, he stated.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr. Neliaku had urged the police to play the role of strategic partners, as well as extending invitation to the IGP to speak at one of the sessions during the global event.

He said the Forum offers premium value to the Force in raising the bar of global policing standards, particularly in the area of strategic communication, intelligence gathering, public affairs, security communication as well as reputation management, urging participation from various state commands and the FCT.

In the President’s delegation were: Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), Dr. Omoniyi lbietan; Chairman, National Planning Committee, WPRF, Dr. Suleiman Haruna; Vice Chairman, NPC-WPRF, Hajiya Maryam Sanusi and the Chairman, Linguistics and Language Work Team, WPRF, Mrs. Olubunmi Badejo.

Others are: FCT Commandant, NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu; Registrar of NIPR, Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue; Member of the NRMG Board, Chief Moji Makanjuola; Director of Public Relations, Mr. Stanley Ogadigo; Chairman, Young Professionals Hub (YPH) of NIPR, Chimdi Neliaku; Chairman, Transportion Work Team of WPRF, Dr. Eddy Megwa; and Chairman, Creatives & Multimedia Work Team of WPRF, Dr. Tope Ojeme.
