Why Trump Team Is Keeping Israel Out Of Fresh Iran Strikes

The Trump administration is keeping Israel out of fresh strikes on Iran to avoid escalation.

United States President Donald Trump’s administration does not want to involve Israel in the strikes over concerns that further involvement could escalate the conflict, CNN reported, citing two Israeli sources.

According to CNN, citing Israeli sources, the US administration is seeking to keep Israel away from direct involvement in the ongoing military actions against Iran. “[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu would really want to join the US strikes,” one of the sources told CNN. “But the US doesn’t want Israel involved at the moment,” the source added.

The report comes as the US and Iran engaged in tit-for-tat strikes, with Trump declaring that the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was “over”.

US President Donald Trump on Friday claimed that Iran has approached the United States to continue negotiations, even as he declared that the ceasefire between the two countries is “over” in a fresh post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the ceasefire is over!” Trump wrote.

In his earlier remarks at the NATO summit, Trump described negotiations with Tehran as “a waste of time” and sharply criticised Iran’s leadership, saying he no longer wished to deal with them. Despite those comments, he stopped short of ruling out continued diplomatic engagement, saying US negotiators were free to keep talking.

The heated exchange came as Tehran and Washington launched new strikes. The US launched new airstrikes against Iran, and Tehran responded by targeting US-allied countries in West Asia.

As per the latest development, Qatari negotiators have landed in Iran to talk to their officials in an effort to de-escalate tensions. The talks are aimed at creating the conditions for a sort of broader negotiations to continue in Qatar or Pakistan.
