The United States launched a sixth night of strikes on Iran, targeting key infrastructure, including two bridges, Iranshahr Airport, and a communications tower near Bandar Abbas.

The United States launched a sixth round of strikes against Iran on Thursday, targeting key infrastructure across the country’s south as part of what US Central Command (CENTCOM) described as an operation to “further degrade Iranian military capabilities.”

Explosions were reported across southern Iran, including on Qeshm Island, in Bushehr and Ahvaz, while Iranian state media reported attacks on bridges, an airport, and a communications tower.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported a suspected US strike on a bridge in the Bandar-e Khamir region, describing it as a vital link connecting Bandar Abbas and Lar.

Later, Iranian state television reported that two bridges in Hormozgan province, the Kahurestan Bridge and the Girveh Bridge in the Bandar Khamir area, had been attacked.

The Hormozgan Governor’s Office confirmed that the Kahurestan Bridge on the Bandar Abbas-Lar route was hit during Thursday night’s attacks, adding that emergency and law enforcement personnel were deployed to the scene and that the situation was under control.

According to Fars, two people were killed and four others were injured in attacks on the two bridges.

The IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency reported that US fighter jets launched a missile attack on Iranshahr Airport in southeastern Iran. The agency said three powerful explosions were heard near the airport after the strike.

Tasnim also reported that a communications tower on a hill in Bandar Abbas was targeted, causing a power outage in parts of the city.

The agency said seven people were injured in a US attack on an area of the southern Iranian city.

Separately, Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences said one person was killed and eight others were wounded in a US strike on the Tappeh Allah-o-Akbar neighborhood of Bandar Abbas. It said seven of the injured suffered blast-related wounds, while another sustained a fracture.

The Hormozgan Governor’s Office said areas near Qeshm were struck at around 11:10 AM, but did not immediately provide details on casualties or damage.

CENTCOM said the latest operation marked the sixth night of US strikes aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities.

Elsewhere in the region, Kuwait said it detected 32 hostile drones in its airspace since dawn. A US military spokesperson told Al Jazeera that the United States has 50,000 troops in the Middle East who are ready to carry out any mission.

The US Embassy in Baghdad also advised American citizens in Iraq to remain on alert following a drone attack on Erbil on Wednesday.
