Osborn Umahi, son of Nigeria’s Minister of Works David Umahi, has intensified his campaign for the chairmanship of Ohaozara Local Government Area ahead of the August 22, 2026 elections.

On Monday, August 17, Umahi led supporters to a rally at the St. Margaret Umahi Pavilion in Uburu, where residents expressed strong backing for his candidacy under the All Progressives Congress.

A statement by Francis Nwaze, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Works, described the campaign as evidence of Umahi’s growing acceptability across the council.

“The people of Ohaozara have demonstrated strong support and enthusiasm for the emergence of their young and vibrant son, Engr. Osborn Umahi, as a new generation of leadership,” the statement read.

Umahi, an engineer and financial expert, was presented as a candidate positioned to deliver “purposeful and responsive leadership” through competence, experience, and fresh ideas.

The campaign atmosphere reflected residents’ desire for leadership rooted in local connection and new perspectives.

Supporters emphasized that the mobilisation must translate into votes at Saturday’s polls.

The Ebonyi State local government election is scheduled for August 22, 2026, with Umahi among the key contenders.
