Ukrainian defense adviser warns of possible Russian attack of 100 missiles a month
A top-ranking Ukrainian official is warning of potential imminent Russian attacks that could send 100 ballistic missiles to the region on a monthly basis, targeting critical business infastructure.
Sehii “Flash” Beskrestnov, a defense technology development adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, sounded the alarm of possible ramped-up Russian attacks.
Beskrestnov said that Russia has recently intensified its targeted strikes on civilian economic infrastructure, including production sites, logistics facilities, and retail businesses.
Beskrestnov added that the level of strikes could potentially point to Russia’s usage of previously stockpiled missile reserves, but added that Moscow is still capable of launching 100 ballistic missiles a month after those stockpiles were depleted.
“Attacks on businesses, warehouses, production facilities, and other sites will continue,” Beskrestnov said, reports the Kyiv Post.
Beskrestnov’s message follows Russia’s deployment of 24 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 4 Zircon or Oniks missiles and 115 attack drones targeting Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight Wednesday.
At least 17 people were reported to be killed, and 44 others were injured from the attacks, according to Zelenesky.
The Ukrainian Air Force said it intercepted or electronically suppressed 98 drones, but did not shoot down any of the
Multiple civilian infrastructure sites, including warehouses, logistics centers, businesses, residential buildings, and a railway station.
Authorities added that eight people were killed at the Kvitneve railway station as they waited for a delayed train during the attack.
The railway station was one of at least five locations that suffered damage to their infrastructure during the attack.
Russia’s defense ministry stated that it targeted logistics facilities associated with Ukraine’s military. However, Ukrainian authorities pushed back on this claim, saying that the attacks damaged civilian companies and infastructure that had no ties to the military.
