All 55 UEFA member associations have reportedly voted unanimously to support a boycott of FIFA tournaments in protest against the world football governing body’s proposed investment structure for the FIFA World Cup.
According to The Times journalist Martyn Ziegler, the decision was reached during an emergency online meeting held by UEFA members on Thursday.
The meeting was convened to discuss FIFA’s proposal to establish the FIFA Forward Enterprise, a planned $20 billion subsidiary that would manage the FIFA World Cup and other major competitions.
Under the proposal, up to 20 per cent of the new company could be sold to external investors.
Following deliberations, the 55 UEFA members reportedly agreed unanimously to boycott all FIFA competitions, including the men’s FIFA World Cup, the Women’s World Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The reported vote represents a significant escalation in tensions between UEFA and FIFA over the proposed restructuring of the commercial operations surrounding football’s biggest tournaments.
FIFA has proposed the creation of the FIFA Forward Enterprise as part of plans to oversee the commercial management of its flagship competitions through the new entity.
NOP NIGERIA reports that FIFA hit back at critics on Friday, vowing to press ahead with an “open and democratic” consultation with stakeholders on a proposed private investment plan.
In a statement, FIFA said all of its member associations should have a chance to consider the plan.
“Nobody is selling football,” FIFA said in the statement.
“This is not something FIFA would ever entertain.”
FIFA said it had heard the feedback from confederations including UEFA and CONCACAF – the governing body for North and Central America.
“We respect the feedback and concern aired in public and reaffirm our commitment to an open and democratic consultation,” the statement said.

“Our planned consultation process was disrupted by incorrect media reports. We will proceed with this consultation process to ensure that each (member association) has the ability to express its vote based on facts.”
FIFA has said the plan could raise up to $4.2 billion based on a valuation of $20 billion for the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative.
FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) Explained
FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) is a proposed commercial subsidiary that would take charge of FIFA’s commercial and operational activities linked to major competitions. These include broadcast rights, sponsorship, ticketing, licensing and event delivery.
Rather than operating these commercial assets directly, FIFA intends to place them under the new subsidiary while maintaining control of football governance, sporting regulations and competition calendars.

The commercial business has been valued at about 20 billion dollars, with FIFA seeking to raise up to 4.2 billion dollars through the sale of minority equity stakes. According to the proposal, investors would not gain controlling ownership of FIFA or influence over football’s laws or governance.
