Tyler Robinson Trial: Lance Twiggs' DNA Found on Rifle Used to Kill Charlie Kirk

During the Tyler Robinson murder trial, forensic experts revealed that DNA belonging to Lance Twiggs, the accused’s roommate, was found on crucial evidence linked to the murder of Charlie Kirk.

A major development emerged on the second day of the Tyler Robinson murder trial as forensic experts testified that DNA belonging to Lance Twiggs—the roommate of the accused—was found on key pieces of evidence linked to the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

The testimony has renewed speculation about Twiggs’ possible involvement, despite the FBI previously stating that he and his family had fully cooperated with investigators and were not considered suspects.

Appearing before Utah’s Fourth District Court on Tuesday, Jennifer Faumuina, a sergeant with the Utah State Bureau of Investigation who supervised the forensic analysis, said DNA testing identified both Lance Twiggs’ and Tyler Robinson’s genetic material on a screwdriver recovered from the roof of Utah Valley University’s Losee Center, as well as on a towel wrapped around the rifle later discovered in nearby woods.

The rifle, believed to be the weapon used in the killing, was recovered by FBI agents after the shooting. Investigators also found the screwdriver at the crime scene during a search of the university building.

While the presence of Twiggs’ DNA is not entirely unexpected because he and Robinson shared an apartment near Utah Valley University, the proportions identified during forensic testing drew significant attention in court.

According to Faumuina’s testimony, approximately 95 per cent of the DNA recovered from the screwdriver matched Lance Twiggs, while 89 per cent of the DNA found on the towel wrapped around the rifle also belonged to him.

The findings have sparked fresh debate over Twiggs’ connection to the case, with online speculation intensifying over whether Robinson acted alone or whether others may have been involved.

However, prosecutors have not alleged that Twiggs participated in the killing, and the FBI has previously maintained that he was cleared after cooperating fully with the investigation.

The trial also featured newly released surveillance footage from Utah Valley University, providing jurors with additional visual evidence as proceedings continue. Prosecutors and defence attorneys are expected to further examine the forensic evidence and its significance in the coming days.
