Two Women Arrested For Allegedly Raping Driver In South Africa

South African police have arrested five suspects, including two women, after a 25-year-old e-hailing driver was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted in Cape Town.

The Steenberg police rescued the driver in Heathfield after tracing his vehicle following a report from his brother, who had been contacted by the suspects demanding R4,000 for his release.

Police said the driver had met one of the female suspects through his e-hailing work the previous week. The two exchanged contact details and later arranged to meet.

According to the police account, the driver was abducted when he went to meet the woman, after which the two female suspects allegedly sexually assaulted him while three male suspects were involved in holding him captive.

The suspects are two women aged 23 and 34, and three males aged 16, 42 and 48, according to police.

The victim was located at Southampton Road in Heathfield through the tracking system on his vehicle and was subsequently rescued by officers.

The five suspects are expected to appear before the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 14.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
