An official of Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency (TSPHCDA), Dr. Tukura Nuhu Nyigwa, weekend said the tetanus-diphtheria vaccination will target females from the age of 15 to 46 years.
He stated this at a stakeholder’s sensitisation meeting held in Jalingo ahead of the campaign scheduled for 28th September to 2nd October 2026. He stated further that the vaccination would be supported by UNICEF..
“This vaccination will target females aged 15 to 49 years and I urge eligible women to take advantage of the opportunity to receive the vaccine,” he said.

The meeting brought together health officials, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, communication and social mobilisation teams, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, improve community awareness, address misconceptions and enhance access to vaccination services.

Dr. Nyigwa stated the importance of intensified community sensitisation and awareness creation to improve understanding and acceptance of vaccination.
He added that women and children continue to face the threat of tetanus and called on stakeholders to actively encourage eligible women to receive the vaccine.

The State Health Educator, Mrs. Christiana Habila, said the engagement was designed to prepare stakeholders for effective participation in the campaign.

She stated the importance of clear communication and strong community mobilisation in ensuring that eligible women receive accurate information and can access vaccination services.
