‘Sanitary inspector disguising as economist’ — Keyamo takes dig at Atiku
Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace
growth, has taken a recent dig at former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over
his latest criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s financial reforms.
In a terse submit on X on Thursday, Keyamo questioned Atiku’s
competence on financial issues, describing him as a “sanitary inspector
disguising as an economist”.
Early in his schooling, Atiku obtained a diploma from the
Kano School of Hygiene, an establishment related to public well being and
sanitation coaching.
The qualification is broadly understood as vocational
coaching in hygiene and environmental sanitation, not the equal of a
college diploma in economics, finance or public administration, for example.
In latest weeks, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and different
chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have cited Atiku’s background
on the Kano hygiene faculty as a limitation in his bid to manipulate Nigeria.
Shettima first referred to Atiku’s sanitation background on
October 14, whereas talking on the inauguration of the APC presidential marketing campaign
council in Abuja.
“With all due respect to Vice President Atiku Abubakar, he
was skilled in Kano School of Hygiene as Duba-gari in Hausa and Wole-wole in
Yoruba,” he mentioned.
The vice-president cautioned Nigerians towards listening to
opposition politicians, whom he described as “voodoo economists” who lack an
understanding of the dynamics of a contemporary financial system.
Shettima returned to the topic on Monday on the thirty second
Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, saying the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
presidential candidate lacks the ability set to manipulate a contemporary financial system.
He was reacting to Atiku’s pledge to revive petrol subsidy
if elected president. Shettima argued that the proposal would drag Nigeria again
into poverty.
“One of the main presidential candidates (Atiku) is
advocating a return to the subsidy scheme. He desires us to backslide into
primitivity for political comfort,” Shettima mentioned.
“I dare to place ahead that his ability set… he was skilled in
sanitation on the Kano School of Hygiene. So he doesn’t have the ability set to
govern a contemporary financial system. That’s a painful reality.”
Last Wednesday, on Channels Television’s Politics Today,
Ajibola Basiru, APC nationwide secretary, additionally questioned Atiku’s skilled
background. He argued that Atiku’s stint as vice-president didn’t
robotically make him an financial professional.
“Atiku will not be knowledgeable, please, with respect to him.
Atiku skilled as a hygiene professional on the college of hygiene in Kano. He is a
‘Wole wole’ man and proceeded to being a tax collector in customs. Where is the
experience? What has he executed? Check his profile,” Basiru mentioned.
Phrank Shaibu, director of strategic communication of the
ADC presidential marketing campaign council, had hit again at Shettima, saying private
assaults wouldn’t ease the financial hardship confronting Nigerians.
The ADC presidential marketing campaign council spokesperson
challenged the vice-president to handle allegations regarding Tinubu’s
educational data quite than ridicule Atiku over his academic background.
