Rep commends FG over assurance for resumption of work on  Bida-Lapai-Lambata road

A member of the House of Representatives from Niger state, Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi, has commended the federal government for its commitment to ensuring resumption of work on the Bida-Lapai-Lambata road project soon.

Abdullahi gave the commendation following a meeting between the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and a delegation of stakeholders from Niger-south.

The delegation, under the aegis of the Coalition of Niger South Development Associations, was led by the lawmaker.

In a statement on Friday, Abdullahi stressed the need for the federal government to complete the road project, citing its socio-economic importance and the security challenges confronting communities along the route.

He said the poor state of the road had continued to affect economic activities and movement across the area, while also creating additional security concerns for residents.

The Chairman of Bida Forum, Mallam Muhammad Jameel, who spoke on behalf of the coalition, said the delegation met with the minister to seek urgent intervention in the challenges associated with the project.

Receiving the delegation, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Mohammed Goronyo, acknowledged the stakeholders’ commitment to the development of their communities.

Goronyo assured the delegation that Umahi would honour the commitment to address the road project.

“You have shown a lot of commitment to your people. I’m sure when we go there, the minister (Umahi) will really fulfil this very important pledge that he made,” he said.
